As a primary school student, Drake always dreaded bedtime. Something in his room always haunted him. It wasn't a haunted house or a creepy forest--something far more terrifying : his closet.

The abyss of forgotten clothes and dusty shoes stared back at him like a ghostly void. Drake trembled as he reached for the light switch, hoping to illuminate the darkness within. Unfortunately, the bulb that burned out. Because...why not?

As he fumbled in the darkness, his hand brushed against something soft and fuzzy. He shrieked, thinking it was a giant spider, but it was just his old teddy bear, Mr. Whiskers. He was a startled as Drake was, judging by his glassy stare.

Determined to clean out his closet once and for all, Drake decided to tackle it the next day. He enlisted the help of this best friend, Victor, who was always up for an adventure. Armed with flashlights and garbage bags, they set to work.

They started by pulling everything out of the closet, revealing a graveyard of dead socks, a mummy-wrapped scarf, and a pair of shoes that seemed possessed by the spirit of clutter. It was like an archaeological dig, but instead of ancient artefacts, they found ancient t-shirts.

Halfway through their excavation, they stumbled upon the infamous "Sock Eating Monster"--a.k.a. the vacuum cleaner Its cord was tangled up like a snake ready to strike at any moment. Drake and Victory wrestled it free, laughing at their overactive imaginations.

As they sorted through the mess, they found a lot of old, forgotten items that brought back memories. There was Brake's first soccer jersey, his old action figure and a collection of birthday cards from years past. It wasn't just a closet full of junk; it was a treasure trove of their childhood.

By the end of the day, they had organized everything into piles: keep, donate, and throw away . The closet looked completely different--clean, tidy and far less menacing. Brake felt a sense of accomplishment and relief.

That night, as Drake climbed into bead, he no longer felt the familiar dread. The horrors of this closet had been vanquished, and he knew he had turned a scary chore into a fun adventure with his best friend. He also learned that facing his fears head-on, with a little help, mad e them much less terrifying.

Though he knew the mess would eventually return, Drake now had the confidence to take the sock eating monster again. next time, it might just be wearing a hockey mask and wielding a chainsaw, but he'd be ready.

I live in the most haunted house in Malaysia!

The house is currently an unoccupied three-storey townhouse in the exculsive residential area of Taman Desa Seputeh near Mid Valley in KL.

In the 1900s, the house was occupied by the owners. They employed a domestic helper who complained to neighbours about bloodcurdling screams every night between midnight and 1am.

Neighbours who actually heard the screams promptly called the police. They said the screamers sounded as if someone was being killed! But inspite of the detailed investigations, the cops cops couldn't find anything amiss. After drawing a blank despite numerous visits tho the house, the police ignored the complaints altogether.

"Call us if you see a corpse," said one unhappy policemen to the neighbours.

On their part, the owners vehemently denied that there was anything wrong with the house but interestingly, they chose to put more than 100 Taoist charms all over the house, presumably to ward off bad luck or evil.

Their maid, who was Catholic, covered her bedroom walls and door with crucifixes. In 1997, the owners moved out to an apartment.

In 1999 my family moved into the house. As the charms were unsightly, we removed them. the maid's crosses had been taken away before we moved in, save for one painted on the door to the maid's room. this we left untouched.

During our first night in the house, my father was mysteriously in kicked in he neck by an unknown being. The pain was excruciating and he couldn't move his head. Although the saw doctors for help, they were not able to detect any problems. Yet the pain persisted for more than a year. My father resorted to physiotherapy for relief.

The midnight screams were the scariest of all.We began hearing them shortly after we moved in. My parents thought I was responsible because I had started reading the Mr Midnight books by James Lee at about that time! The screams were always followed by the sound of a key being turned. But we just couldn't trace the door responsible for the sound.

It was really hard to get a good night's sleep in the house. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, when in deep sleep mode., I would be awakened by a vigorous shaking of my bed. It felt thought I was in a sampan being buffeted by giant waves. Have you seen beds shaking in horror movies? Well, it was exactly like that! My parents would rsh into my room to reassure me. But he bed seemed to have a mind of it's own and continued shaking for 2 to 20 minutes!

I was only 6 then, so you can imagine how terrified I was!

Once, we had a visitor form New Zealand-my father's brother, who stayed with us. My uncle was a good athlete and had even completed the Ironman Trialthlon. After just one night in the guest room, he was reduced to a whimpering, shaking lump of jelly. It was quite a sight, I tell you. He had seen ghostly apparitions of children running up and down the staircase. One of them even pulled his ear and whispered "BOO!"

We found him weeping agt the staircase. The poor man had urinated in his pants. He scolded my father for inviting him to a haunted house. He did not even bother to shower: he just hailed a taxi and checked into the nearest hotel.

During the three years we lived in that house, I saw objects move of their own accord, suggesting poltergeist-like activity. On one occasion, I saw a pile of books floating in mid-air and moving to a new position about three meters form where it originally was. They arranged themselves neatly in the new position. Cell phones were moved as if someone who was invisible was explanation on the floor, wall, ceilings and mirrors. We had a tough time cleaning ooff the stains.

We decided to stay put despite the on-goings, as the rent was very low for a fully furnished six-bedroom house. We moved out only when our new house was ready, in 2002.

After we left, the house was unoccupied for some months and rapidly became home to all sorts of wild animals, including snakes! The house became rundown and was an eyesore in what was a rather posh neighbourhood. The owners were forced to spruce up the house when neighbours threatened legal actions.

It wasn't easy to do up the place though. Contractor after contractor couldn't finish the work. A job should have taken at most a couple of months lasted a good 2 years. During the course of the work, terrified workers were seen running out of the house at night, leaving behind their belongings and tools.

I understood the house was finally renovated in 2005 and new tenants were found. But my former neighbours report that the turnover rate is very high! Few can stay in the house for more than 1 or 2 months.

Kiyami

Grabbing her pen and sketchbook, Kiyami walked out of her school, looking at scenery was her favourite thing to do. Kiyami was shy, she loved to share her passion of drawing with nature and her warm personality sparked many animals in the parks. Secondary school was when girls are at their peak of youth. While other girls are playing and gossiping with their friends, Kiyami liked to isolate from other people. This was the first day of school, she may change.

After 3 hours of looking and sketching, she returned home. Her mother was busy cooking. Kiyami also liked to isolate from her parents. Most of the time, she would be using watercolour paints to paint out her sketches. there was no doubt she also loved designing dresses and sewing them. "夕食の時間!(Dinner time)"her mother hollered out. Kiyami took the bowl and went back in.

Kiyami's mom could not stand it anymore. Her daughter had isolated herself for 12 years of her life. Kiyami's mom, more known as miss Yochita was worried sick about her daughter's life. She worried that she would become a misfit and isolate her for the entire life. Mr yochita then entered the door. "ヨチタ、孤立した娘をわざわざ気にかけてくれませんか?(Mr Yochita, will you bother to care about your isolated daughter?)" Miss Yochita burst.

Mr Yochita was a patient and kind hearted father, he would never rush his children in life. So, as anyone expected, he said "大丈夫、彼女はやがて心を開いてくれる.(It's okay, she will open up eventually)" (As a fact, her mother said that every year, and he replied the exact same thing as he said today.)

Since Miss Yochita's husband did not budge, Miss Yochita was determined to make Kiyami open up.

But how?

Miss Yochita found out that if girls had the latest model of anything that was on trend, she would be very popular and everyone would get the model too.

But there was one setback.

Kiyami's family did not know where to get these stuff, and they did not know the models and by the time they studied long enough, the trend has changed. So, Miss Yochita went on a spy, and she managed to keep up with the trend. When she save enough, Miss Yochita bought Kiyami a cool mobile 16. (the latest model of the cool mobile which is on trend) Miss yochita squealed!

A few minutes later, Miss Yochita burst in Kiyami's door which said "入って邪魔しないでください"(Do not enter and disturb).

"ああ! 何が欲しいの?(Ahh! what do you want?) " Kiyami screamed. It was wierd that Kiyami would even respond to her Mother storming into her room.

"何だと思う!クールなモバイル 16 を買ってあげました! (Guess what! I bought you a cool mobile 16!)" Miss yochita exclaimed.

"それは何ですか?(what is that?) " Kiyami asked.

"明日学校に持っていくだけです。電話をかけたり、チャットしたり、ソーシャルメディアを閲覧したりすることもできます。(Just bring it to school tomorrow. you can call and chat and also browse social media!) Miss yochita said.

Kiyami really felt she could not deny her mother's request.

The next day, Kiyami proceeded to her school called "the Japanese-english secondary school"in Tokyo. She took out her mobile and entered this social media platform called "日本社会"or "JS" it stands for Japan Social. she opened it and scrolled down the pages. Some students around gasped at her cool mobile 16.

Kiyami felt a tap from behind, "Hi, is that a cool mobile 16?......."

To be continued......
